April Newsletter
Meeting Recap
Apologies for the delay in April’s newsletter, folks! I’m now in another round of finals for my masters program. We had a great meeting this month with great tunes. As always, check out our Common Tunes page to see what we’ve been playing together.
We also broached the topic of fundraisers. The tionol was a great success, but now it’s time to refill the coffers. Our membership section is nearly complete and we’ll soon be able to access annual subscriptions through the website/store. Until then, we have a donation option! You can donate here! With that said, we’ll be using next months meeting as our Annual General Meeting to discuss future steps for workshops, concerts, fundraisers, etc. If you can make it, please do!
Workshops & Concerts
Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy 2025 registration is in full swing. Pipers will need to register by via t the Na Piobairi Uilleann website (pipers.ie). I suspect the majority of accommodations are already booked, however there is a Facebook page with folks still offer up their spare rooms: Willie Clancy Week Facebook Group.
They have also released the program for the event in an Instagram post you can see here.
House Concerts
I’ve also received word that Sean Gavin, Johnny Connolly, and Cary Novotny will be visiting Seattle for a house concert on June 25th. Please reach out to John Manning for more details on that.
Bandcamp, Bits & Bobs
One of our clubs very own Dylan Bloom just released an album with his group Stray Sod. Although it’s not a piping album it’s still a banger! Dylan, who primary instrument is the banjo, started uilleann piping a couple years ago and has been making great strides. Check out the album on bandcamp, and spotify!
That’s it for now. See you all May 11th for our annual general meeting!
