Meeting Recap
We had another great meeting this month. We played tunes for nearly three hours non stop. As always you can check out our Common Tunes page to see what we’re all playing.
IPC Annual Membership
Some folks have recently asked about annual dues. The club no longer utilizes dues for formal club membership. There are a number of legal implications involved around dues and the current state of our club is not equipped to manage such things. The best way to support the club now is with our Members Only section. This subscription is $20 a year, which was the same cost as dues. Subscribing to the club is the best way to help support us and help bring in new pipers and musicians for workshops and concerts, as well as raise funds for our next tionol. And for your support you will get access to exclusive recordings of these musicians as well as discounts on workshops and concerts! You can sign up here:
Remember, we also have a donation option! You can donate here!
IPC Merchandise
Another great way to support the club is to purchase merch! We’ve got some great new hoodies, and you can still order our custom 2025 West Coast Tionol T-shirts.

Aidan Connolly - Irish Fiddle workshop & Bryan O'Leary - Kerry tunes workshop
Friend of the club Eoin Caulfield reached out about an upcoming workshop in Vancouver. The Vancouver School of Irish Music will be hosting Aiden Connolly (Fiddle) and Bryan O’Leary (Box) for a day of workshops and sessions. I met Bryan last summer on the way to Miltown and not only is his music incredible, but he’s a great guy! Here’s a bit more on the two of them:
Aidan Connolly, from Dublin, has received widespread acclaim for his distinctive fiddle playing and was nominated for Best Folk Instrumentalist at the RTÉ Folk Awards in 2022. He also performs the role of John Sheahan in the internationally touring stage show Dubliners Encore. His recordings have received critical praise in publications such as The Irish Times and The Irish Echo.
Bryan O’Leary, a native of Tureencahill in County Kerry, is widely regarded as one of the leading accordion players of his generation and was named TG4 Young Musician of the Year in 2015. He is the grandson of the legendary Sliabh Luachra accordion player Johnny O’Leary, and his playing continues a rich family tradition rooted in the distinctive repertoire of polkas and slides associated with the region.
You can find more details and tickets on the event page here.
Piping Heaven Piping Hell Lecture Series
The next lecture in the great new series hosted by Piping Heaving Piping Hell is with Ronan Brown. He’ll be answering questions about playing slow airs on the pipes. The event will be Sunday April 19th. You can find event info on their facebook page here.
Bandcamp, Bits & Bobs
In support of Aidan and Bryan, here is their album on bandcamp. Enjoy!
That’s it for now. Looking forward to seeing many of you at the Colm and Niamh concert next week. Our next club meeting is on May 10th. See you then!
